Mistakes, missteps and “failures” are all part of our learning, growth and evolution along our journey. None of us can expect perfection from ourselves. Being a human can be a messy process, but every part of it is beautiful.

Anytime we make a mistake or we have a misstep, or we fail at something, we are being guided back into alignment with our true self and true desires.

We can be so quick to label mistakes and failures as “bad” or “wrong”, but really they are part of our learning experience here and a part of being human!

We’re never going to get it 100% right 100% of the time.

I’ve been a perfectionist a lot of my life. I wanted to be the best at everything that I did, and worked myself into the ground countless times trying to live up to this ideal (that I set for myself). I was constantly trying to prove myself! (To whom??)

It took me a long time to realize that it’s ok to stumble…it’s ok to fall down…it’s ok to be human and not be perfect!

It’s so important to have compassion for ourselves when we do stumble, and remember that…

if you do fail or make a mistake, it does not discount all of the work you’ve put in up to this point.

Even if it feels like you’ve taken hundreds of steps back, that feeling is totally normal, and that feeling will pass.

Making a mistake is just you learning. And any time we get out of our comfort zones, we are going to make some mistakes. They say it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert at something, and in those 10,000 hours, you’re probably going to make 10,000 mistakes. Do it anyway.

You can also make learning from your a fun process by adjusting the way you think about it. Rather than beating up on yourself when you stumble, you can look at the mistake as simply part of the process and a situation that is ultimately making you better.

Much love,

V
